About This Place

Nestled in the scenic landscape of San Dimas, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park stands out as an exceptional outdoor destination that offers something special for everyone. Spanning around 250 acres adjacent to the picturesque Puddingstone Lake and Dam, this expansive regional park is truly a haven for nature lovers, families, and adventure seekers alike.

What immediately captures your heart here is the park's remarkable blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The shimmering lake set against the backdrop of Mount Baldy creates breathtaking views that inspire calm and awe. As one visitor, Daphne, expressed, “Have you seen a lake view of Mt. Baldy? It’s huge and nature abounds.” This is not just a park; it’s an invitation to immerse yourself in the peaceful embrace of the outdoors.

Families will find this park especially inviting. The well-maintained grassy areas, clean restrooms, and thoughtfully designed walking paths make it a welcoming space for visitors of all ages. Yajaira M.X shared her joy of visiting with her son, enjoying simple pleasures like feeding peanuts to the curious squirrels or watching ducks flutter across the water. The park’s atmosphere gently fosters connection—between family members, between people and nature.

Recreational activities here are wonderfully diverse. From kayaking and pedal boating on the tranquil lake to horseback riding trails that wind through shaded groves, there’s no shortage of ways to engage the body and soul. Mary, a delighted visitor, recommends bringing hammocks and mini tents to fully savor the BBQ areas and memorable gatherings that the park supports. It’s a space designed not only for fun but for creating lasting memories with loved ones.

The park also thoughtfully accommodates pet owners by offering walking paths that welcome furry friends, as Mary notes: “Great walking paths for our furry members too. Your kitties will love it too (take crates and harness).” This inclusivity adds an extra layer of warmth and accessibility, making Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park a community hub rather than just a scenic spot.

Some practical insights shared by visitors highlight the park’s authenticity and areas for improvement. While Sasha Brown enjoyed a day full of swimming, games, and relaxing with family, she noted some minor maintenance issues, like limited working sinks in the restroom – a reminder that this natural gem is cared for by people who strive to keep it welcoming. Additionally, Jean Navas pointed out the need for more wheelchair and walker-friendly paths to shelters, reflecting an ongoing commitment to accessibility.

With an entry fee currently at $18, the park maintains a commitment to quality and upkeep, ensuring that visitors receive a safe, clean, and beautiful environment. Open most days except Mondays and Tuesdays, it offers flexibility in planning your visit, whether for a morning stroll, an afternoon of boating, or an evening picnic under the shade of ancient trees.

In all, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park delivers an authentic, rejuvenating experience—invoking a sense of peaceful adventure that stays with you long after your visit. It is a cherished local treasure where nature’s beauty meets recreational fun, enhanced by the laughter of children, the quiet moments watching ducks take flight, and the simple joy of fresh outdoor air.

For those seeking to reconnect with nature, create family memories, or simply enjoy a day outdoors with both activity and tranquility, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park is a must-visit destination.

Entry fee is now $18. Please keep in mind that recreation parks close Monday and Tuesday. I love going for air at the park. My son loves and enjiys feeding peanuts to the squirrels. The ducks are there and my son loves to see when they fly away when they see a dog. Restrooms are always clean and the grass looks beautiful. I recommend going anytime of the day. Hace a nice walk and enjoy the view.

Really nice family friendly park, came on the weekend with family to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. We had fun swimming, eating, and playing games. However in the bathroom only one of the three sinks worked, so you will have to be patient. Other than that we had a good time.

A beautiful park and lake with amazing surroundings perfect for family and friend gatherings. So peaceful and delightful for all. Great walking paths for our furry members too . Your kitties will love it too. (Take crates and their harness and leash) Memorable place ...BBQ, Kyacking, boat peddling, horseback riding, bikes, fishing, friendly ducks, make sure to take your hammocks and mini tents. Lovely place with many many beautiful trees. Take a drive around the park and you'll find a nice beach with life guards too! I love this place!!

It was nice with plenty of shade trees. The shelter we were at didn't have a pit and we had to walk over to an area that had 2 tables with a pit. No shade. . We had to be careful where we walked due to lots of gopher holes. It would have been nice to if there were wheelchair and walker friendly with paths to some of the shelters.

Beautiful things can exist in a neighborhood, and the ones living near it never enjoy it. Have you seen a lake view of Mt. Baldy? This is a Regional Park. Yet it has parts (water ways etc.) owned by the State due to it surrounding the Puddingstone Dam/Lake (reservoir). It's huge (250 acres could mean, it may take multiple visits to try and see everything). Nature abounds, and the views on any given day are varied beautiful. It is well maintained. It is family friendly, great for walking, or just relaxing taking on the sights. It offers numerous places with covering (gazebos) for shaded gatherings. On weekends, there is a swim park, boat rentals etc. You can fish on the lake. There is an RV area. You can launch your boat, kayak etc. from the designated piers. There are a variety of styles of playgrounds for children. Look at pictures when you search Bonneli Park. It's dog friendly and there are lovely trails to walk etc. There are public restrooms and many parking areas. Be natured prepared (have what you need) for mosquitoes and possible native wildlife (coyotes etc.)There are seasonal pass offerings with special pricing for Seniors that eliminate the parking per visit entry fee. It also provides additional perks at other state parks. Go visit...it is a beautiful park and the perfect place for a picnic or birthday celebration.

This is a nice park for a bbq picnic or fishing or small beach crafting. Also it’s good place to take a walk with your kids and pets. One negative is that they charge $15 Parking for your car.

Family friendly. You can rent kayak and family pedal bikes. The swim beach closes early. Great for young kids. Has trails, allows boats and jet skis.

Frank G. Bonelli Park is a fantastic spot for outdoor fun and relaxation! The park is beautifully maintained, with plenty of green space for picnics, hiking trails, and areas for fishing or boating on the lake. It’s perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to escape the city for a bit. The playgrounds and picnic areas are clean and well-equipped, and there’s always something happening, from fishing derbies to outdoor concerts. Plus, the views are gorgeous, especially at sunset. Parking is ample, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for a day out in nature!
